Goodbye

It’s time for me to say goodbye
I’ve known for a while I should
I’ve tried to hold on way too long
It's no longer any good

I think about you all the time
I hurt when you don’t write
I wait to see your name in view
But it’s always out of sight

It’s been ages since we talked
Even longer since we touched
You've gone along your merry way
And I just care too much

So it’s time for me to say goodbye
It’s so very hard to do
But please, just let me slip away
Knowing I love you

At memories withered on the vine
